River Island Women Collection Spring Summer 2013
Great collection from River Island womenswear range. All the latest catwalk trends have been nailed to perfection in order to feed our love for fashion without breaking the limit of our credit cards. There is something for everyone. The 1950s and 1960s have been revisited with pastel colours, stripes, polka dots. Denim is always a staple in our wardrobes and this season it's been embellished, distressed and given a new twist. Leather is present with a nod to the Wild West.
I love this look, the Alexus quilted biker jacket has got this fantastic green colour that it's going to be the colour de rigouer next year. Greatly themed up with clashing prints with the same blue palette, striped Holbrook t-shirt and flowered printed Eddington skirt.
Accessories is one of the many strong points at River Island, this bejewelled clutch is going to be dangerously in my wish list, and maybe the big bag on the back would hold it during the day and at night just leave the day bag in the cloak room and show off the glitzy one out in some club or restaurant.
Wonderful this Oakley embellished dress. If you think it is a bit short on its own, wear it as a tunic over a pair of skinny jeans for a casual look or a smart pair of black trousers for a more formal occasion.
This pendant is stunning, a tubular chain holds this rub over set real stone. From the look of it, it looks like a jasper or an onyx or one of the many natural stones that without being precious are indeed very beautiful.
This leather jacket is one of those staple items that should be in every wardrobe. Perfect with casual wear and very edgy if worn with a floaty or romantic dress, just to soften it up or toughen up a bit a frilly look.
Monochrome look for this number which, depending on the choice of the footwear can change drastically. Boots and we are back to the 1960s in Carnaby Street, flat sandals et voila' we are on the French Riviera. The Annabel jacket has got black panels complementing perfectly the waffle mini skirt and the Stripe jumper.
Headpieces are back with a bang. Extremely elaborated they can sort a look in two seconds, especially for who is not very good in styling hair, like me for example. In the 1980s when headpieces were a trend, they 've been a Godsend for me more than once. Now they are back, bolder and bigger and at River Island the selection is great.
The Oriental jacket is a splash of colour, perfect for the warmest seasons. The best way is to pair it up with a total black ensemble like in the picture where a Cara crop top and a Kearney black skirt have been used for the styling. The jacket does all the work.
Adriana sandals and Beesley Gladiator sandals will be comfortable for our everyday life, jumping from one tube train to a bus and for long walks. The colours will be right for the workplace and to match any outfit. Very much needed for when the sky is bluer than a Tiffany box, a great selection of sunglasses, never to be forgotten at home, but always inside your handbag. In the pictures these aviator style sunglasses are timeless.
