In the Holiday Suitcase
It’s that time of the year again and hoping to be lucky and slip through the several strikes, disseminated all over the summer months, few days of holidays or a couple of weeks, are the goal that everyone wants to reach after a hard winter. You have all your clothing sorted but let’s see some small accessories to freshen up your holiday suitcase.
First of all, a new pair of sunglasses is a must and we need something fun, cheerful and with that vintage vibe that screams Capri or St Tropez. The Kim sunglasses by Thomas Sabo are gorgeous with its orange/pink colour and it comes in a handy glasses case and box. Don't you feel already on holiday? www.thomassabo.com
Are you going to spend a weekend by the sea? In order not to cram your suitcase with a lot of swimwear, opt for this lovely bikini by Tucca Swim. By buying one you have two different bikinis because it is reversable and you have a patterned one and a block colour on the other side. You can also play with it and make a third bikini by switching only half of it so you have one part patterned and one in block colour. There you go, three bikinis in one, made with regenerated nylon. www.tuccaswim.co.uk
A hat will always add a boost to any outfit and a hat like this one by Jayley, made of bamboo and in this great, sunny colour is one of those accessories that you can’t leave at home. I love the chain detail. www.jayley.com
Blowfish Malibu has a great selection of sandals in all heights, vegan, and very comfortable for a holiday where a lot of walking is involved. In fact, its shoes have a cushioned insole and the fabric really protects your feet. The Balla model has a side zip and strap details to give you a nice ankle silhouette. I love the leopard print pattern, but it is available also in a neutral colour. You can find them at Next or Office, or online at Zalando and Schuh. Soon another posts just dedicated to the brand. www.blowfishshoes.com
The perfect bag for a holiday is the one that you can scrunch up and put it in your suitcase or rucksack and as soon as it is out it will have its original shape. The Sunset Breeze crochet bag by Joe Browns is very practical, the shoulder strap is long enough to wear it as a crossbody bag and it has that 1970s boho look that it is so summery and relaxed. You can find it at Very, JD Williams, Simply Be and Amazon, just to name few online retailers. www.joebrowns.co.uk
If you travel only with a small hand luggage, you will find some toiletries at the hotel but you will still need a nice deodorant than can pass the security control. The ones from Salt of the Earth are perfect. Their fragrances have incredible combinations like Neroli & Orange Blossom or Lavender & Vanilla just to name a couple. They are refillable, vegan and natural. You can buy the plastic version and then once finished, you can refill it by buying the version stored in a cardboard packaging so that once finished it can be recycled. www.saltoftheearthnatural.com
Toms has been one of the first brand to produce vegan shoes and also every purchase has always been linked to actions that helped and still help several causes. Nowadays by buying a pair of Toms shoes, everyone helps to fund access to mental health resources. The Heritage Alpargata comes in 14 colours, it is made with recycled cotton and eco fibres and it is the perfect slip on shoes to wear on your flight, easy to remove in case of security checks, and also, quite flat so sometimes you don’t even need to remove them when passing the control gates. www.toms.com/uk
An outfit is not complete without some sparkle. During the summer you might prefer more natural choices, less metal and lots of colourful stones. Annie Haak has a great selection that includes this Rainbow silver necklace where Amber and semi-precious stones and beads like Peridot, Moonstone, Rose Quartz and more are divided in sections by small silver beads. The stones being natural means that every necklace is a unique piece. www.anniehaakdesigns.co.uk
